God Spoke...

It's funny how God works...

Ever wondered how certain things are meant to happen to change your life forever? What I've experienced in the past few days has made a mark in my life and things will be different...

God spoke...

And therefore, I'm letting go.... Of things that are precious to me, but not to Him.

I'm shutting this blog down... One of those things...

God of MY City

I went back to KL for the Passion Worship Concert this August and it was definitely not what I expected... It was more.

Not only was I reminded, re-convicted and rechallenged about my significance in Christ, I was also re-inspired by things that I was once in inspired to do and was passionate about... The love of and for my beloved country, Malaysia.

People will never understand the love and passion that I have for this place called "home". I've lived in a successful (in her own definition and pride), more advanced (relatively), more efficient, safer (and the list goes on) neighboring country called Singapore and yet, I am NOT satisfied... Because it is simply just NOT "home"...

Malaysia has her beauty, and with it comes ugliness. Malaysia has her seduction, and with it comes along her failings. But as a nation, we stand as one and we fight as one, for what is dear to us... Our "home". Built by our forefathers, loved by our ancestors and carved out by our countrymen, Malaysia is after all Negara-ku. All Malaysians young and old, for those who have once loved, and still loves her knows her worth and her beauty.

I know that she is not perfect and there are people who are killing her by their anger, hatred, close-mindedness and selfishness. But despite all these, she is still my homeland and my prayer to God is that healing will soon come to this land. He will pour forth His glory and power, and miracles will soon shake her lands, from the valleys of Klang to the height of Mount Kinabalu. That every man, woman and child will experience justice, righteousness and mercy.

When this song was sung during the concert, my passion for Malaysia was revived. It reminded me of the months I spend on bended knees, kneeling in my hostel room, interceding for miracles and revival to hit the shores, cities and mountains of Malaysia, when I once prayed earnestly for fire to be ignited in the hearts of the many Malaysians who join me in this vision. That night, when this song was sung, God whispered in my heart saying... It is not finished and greater things have yet to come. Press on, push on.

The past few weeks have been worrying. Things does not seem to fit what God said to me in that concert hall. I do not see anything greater except for injustice and the selfishness of human. But each time this song plays in my ipod, I shed a tear and I'm reminded of His promises and faithfulness to me, and to my home. For I truly believe that greater things have YET to come and greater things are still to be done in this CITY.

"God Of This City - Chris Tomlin"

You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You Are
You're light in this darkness
You're hope to the hopeless
You're peace to the restless
You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
Chorus 1:
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done in this city
Chorus 2:
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done here

O(lympics)-M-G

OMG!!!

It's been so long since I updated that even Blogger changed its layout and I didn't even know...

I have been very caught up with Olympics (super depressed when it ended, felt like I had nothing to look forward to anymore) in August. I basically (tried) to watch every single sport and event and tried my very best to catch my favorites, i.e. swimming (Michael Phelps is just AWEsum!!!), volleyball (go Brasil!!!), gymnastics (both artistic and rhythmic), athletics (the marathoners were crazy as always to finish in 2 hours), synchro swimming, badminton, tennis, etc etc etc, even until the wee hours of the morning. Oh maaaan... I officially have POS - Post Olympics Syndrome.

But somehow, I managed to find a remedy... Hooray for US Open 2008!!! And it has been late nights all over again... Similar to Wimbledon, I'm (goes without saying) rooting for my king, Roger Federer. I hope he wins his 5th US Open title since he lost to Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon. Nonetheless, it has been GREAT tennis throughout the tournament so far. Qualifiers like Mardy Fish, Ernests Gulbis and Giles Muller have been very impressive. I was a pretty upset when my baby Ana Ivanovic got knocked out in the 2nd round but I found comfort in James Blake. I officially have a super huge crush on him... How can anyone not?!?! Look at him!!!

Well, grandpa, grandma and Foo Ee dropped by 3 weeks ago. Dad dropped by a fortnight ago. So, my weekends have been pretty occupied and eventful. When dad, David and myself went out for dinner two Fridays ago we walked passed this cat which reminded me of Garfield... Look at the resemblance...
This cat is just SO fat! And as most Singaporean cats are... They are just so well-fed...

And look at the difference between this fat (obese) cat and Scratch!!!

Ha-Ha-Ha... Get It?

I spent a wonderful Saturday 2 weeks ago with David as we went prawning for the first time at Bottle Tree park, Khatib. Here is how the place looks like...

David looks gleefully happy...

After catching our first prawn after 40 minutes of waiting... and waiting... and waiting...

And and I caught mine after another 10 more minutes or waiting...

Satisfied... Patience is a virtue... (which I really do not have...)

Apparently the prawns taste better barbequed than steamed but it started drizzling after 2 hours into the session and we decided to bring them home. You can actually barbeque the prawns there on the spot as pits are prepared for you.

I would definitely recomment this activity. It costs about SGD14.50 per hour or SGD29 for 2 1/2 hours at Bottle Tree Park, Khatib but you can prawn all you want and what you catch is what you keep. However, according to more experienced prawners, it's more advisable to visit in the morning instead as the prawns are really hungry and they bite on to the bait (which is dices of chicken heart) quicker. David and I only caught 5 prawns (sad...) after 2 hours of prawning but we paid for 2 rods. You can actually just get one rod and pay for an hour but stay longer and take turns to prawn instead as it's probably more economical and practical, unless you're going in the morning on weekdays. A friend of ours who went in the morning on a weekday said she caught 30 prawns within 2 hours and she only paid for an hour, so that's VERY worth it! And the prawns are huge, not your usual hokkien mee or prawn mee sized-prawns...

After a whole day of galeventing and getting lost tyring to figure out directions as we hardly drove around Singapore (yes... I know, it's almost impossible to get lost in Singapore right?), and 2 hours of waiting, we decided to just settle for Prata... Comfort food...

To feeding hungry stomachs and prawns...

To Melvyn and Rachel (Choi)

Here are some pictures of Melvyn and Choi's wedding I extracted from her Facebook...

It's 7:30 a.m. and the guys were late!!! So they had to pay....

Yup... 45 minutes worth of torture... Then they surrendered with our pay check...

He sung "It's All About You" by McFly, as per her request...

The church ceremony...

The girls...

The guys... Dashing eh?

He serenaded her (again...) with "Zhuan Shu Tian Shi" while she was excorted in by his trusted comrades... Of course, she didn't know he was going to sing...

The dinner at The Regent...

And I think Choi looks absolutely gorgeous in this picture... She's happily glowin'!
